Anne Douqué
Anne Douqué has been the Business Director of Dutch National Ballet since November 2024. Her career at Dutch National Opera & Ballet began in 2021, initially as a project manager and later as a policy secretary.
After completing her degree in Cultural Studies at the University of Amsterdam in 1999, Douqué organised a conference on promoting diversity and inclusion in the performing arts sector on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the British Council. During the same period, she supported the producer of an international opera production by Japanese composer Maki Ishii. These experiences confirmed her passion for working in the arts.
She subsequently worked for four years at the British Council and co-founded the Artery Foundation with artist and director Henk Schut, where she served as Business Manager. Between 2000 and 2009, the foundation produced various music theatre productions and installations, often site-specific and co-produced with partners such as the NDSM Wharf, the Schuur, Musikfest Bremen, Festival Oude Muziek, and the Dutch National Touring Opera. From 2006, Douqué served as Business Director of the Nederlands Kamerkoor for six years. Following this, she returned to projects for Artery, focusing on visual arts. From 2017 to 2020, she worked as the Managing Director of Building Conversation/Third Space, with Lotte van den Berg as Artistic Director.
Douqué was a member of the internationalisation committee of the Performing Arts Fund NL from 2006 to 2010 and served as a committee member and adviser at the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts from 2015 to 2017, assessing structural subsidies for Music and Music Theatre during the 2017–2020 Arts Plan period.
