Children’s Chorus Festival 2026
On Sunday, 24 May 2026, Dutch National Opera will host the annual Children’s Chorus Festival at Dutch National Opera & Ballet – and this edition will be all about fairy tales. Children’s choruses from all over the Netherlands are invited to take part in this special day.
The festival programme includes a variety of workshops, a wonderful introduction to the world of opera, and a unique behind-the-scenes experience! We will conclude the day with a festive finale performance, where all the choruses come together on stage to sing a song written and composed especially for the festival. Parents and other guests are warmly invited to join us for this celebratory closing event.
Milestone
Ten editions of singing together
Across the Netherlands, many children’s choruses come together every week to share the joy of singing. Dutch National Opera is delighted to open its doors to them and offer a glimpse into everything that happens both on and behind the stage.
The very first edition of the Children’s Chorus Festival took place in 2015. Since then, around 300 children from across the country have participated in this special day every year. In 2026, Dutch National Opera will celebrate a milestone: the tenth edition of the festival.
