Seating

The Main Stage seating is structured across three tiers: orchestra level, first balcony and second balcony. Odd-numbered seats are on the left side of the hall (use the ‘Oneven’ entrance), and even-numbered seats on the right (use the ‘Even’ entrance). View the seating plan for opera or ballet here.

In Studio Boekman, seating is unreserved. This means that you’re free to select a seat once the hall doors open.

Late arrivals

After the start of the performance, it is no longer possible to enter the auditorium. This is to avoid disturbing the artists and seated audience members. Please plan your journey carefully.

If you arrive late for a performance on the Main Stage, you can follow it on the screens in the foyer. After the interval, you will still be able to take your seat in the auditorium. If you arrive late for a performance in Studio Boekman, you can wait at the bar and find your seat in the auditorium after the interval.

Accessibility

Dutch National Opera & Ballet is for everyone. We therefore offer various facilities, such as gender-neutral toilets, wheelchair-accessible spaces and a loop system on the Main Stage. Wheelchair seats or assistance can be reserved by phone via the customer service team.

Dress code

There is no dress code in our theatre. Simply wear whatever makes you feel comfortable: an evening gown or jeans – everything is fine.

Pin-only policy

At Dutch National Opera & Ballet, we follow a pin-only policy to offer you a faster and more secure service. You can make card and contactless payments at the bar, in the shop and at the ticket office.

During the intervals, as well as before and after performances on the Main Stage, our foyer bars are open for you to enjoy a selection of snacks and sweet treats. For Main Stage performances, you also have the convenience of pre-ordering your drinks online on this page, helping you skip the queue and aiding us in reducing waste.

We would also like to invite you to our Theatre Café, adjacent to Studio Boekman. More information on the menu and opening hours can be found here.

Introduction

Before every performance on the Main Stage, one of our experts gives an inspiring introduction, offering background information that can enrich your theatre visit. This introduction starts 45 minutes before the performance and takes place in the Souterrain. The introductions are in Dutch and can be attended free of charge with a valid ticket. Performances in Studio Boekman do not include an introduction.
