Situated in the heart of Amsterdam, the iconic theatre of Dutch National Opera & Ballet offers a magnificent view of the River Amstel and the famous Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The various spaces form an inspiring backdrop.
Main Stage
1600 seats over three levels. Advanced audio-/visual equipment and creatives create a magical experience!
Studio Boekman
Studio Boekman is the creative wellspring of Dutch National Opera & Ballet. It is an intimate level-floor stage with an adjacent theatre café, where visitors are greeted with a warm, informal, and inclusive welcome.
Foyer by the Main Stage and Entresol
The foyers offer a Panoramic view over the Amstel River and the 'Magere Brug' (Skinny Bridge). Spread over three levels, there is room for up to 1600 guests. During an intermission on the Entresol, between the foyer at hall level and the first balcony, you have a wonderful view of the entrance area, the Amstel River and the foyers.
Foyer Auditorium and Entresol
The theatre features spacious foyers with a stunning view over the Amstel River and Skinny Bridge. The foyer is spread over three levels. From every level you will have a panoramic view over the Amstel canal with Amsterdams finest canal houses. If the weather allows us, we can open the balconies.

Foyer - stalls level
The stalls foyer has three fitted bars and counts 1300 square meters. The impressive staircase from the entrance hall can also be set up as a gallery with chairs and cushions for plenary events up to 250 guests. This creates a more informal, light and creative spot in the theatre for presentations and performances. The theatre shop is also located in the foyer, giving guests the opportunity to buy a souvenir of the performance.

Foyer - first and second balcony
The higher foyers for the 1st and 2nd balconies each have their own bar. The 1st balcony foyer also has access to the exclusive VIP-room, where the theatre receives its important guests. Going up a level to the 2nd balcony foyer extends your view even further along the River Amstel!

Entresol
The entresol is situated between the stalls foyer and the 1st balcony foyer and can be reached by the spiral staircase and the lift. Both during the daytime and at night, the big curved glass façade offers a magnificent view of the entrance, the River Amstel and the foyers. The light, airy space is finished off by two unique paintings by the Amsterdam artist Armando.

Souterrain (formerly Odeonzaal)
A private room of 325 m2 where usually the introductions of performances are held.
VIP Room
An exclusive space on first balcony level for small receptions, meet & greets, meetings or dinners.
Studios
The studios of Dutch National Ballet and Dutch National Opera give you a unique peek behind the scenes.
Decoratelier
An industrial venue in Amsterdam Zuidoost. This is where all the decor is made!
Decoratelier
The decoratelier in the Zuidoost district of Amsterdam is a unique industrial location where all the scenery is made. It is also a storage space for hundreds of rows of specially made costumes and props that are awaiting their next stage appearance.
