Children and families
We love to share our passion for opera and ballet with as many people as possible. We create performances in which children, teenagers and families can experience the magic of ballet and opera. We also organise many other youth and family activities: from tours throughout our theatre to projects in which children and/or adults can shine on stage themselves.

In addition to performances and activities for schools and families, we offer various projects aimed at giving specific groups the opportunity to discover opera and ballet and express themselves through dance and singing.

Art Weekend Amsterdam
During Art Weekend Amsterdam, young people with Down syndrome (aged 10 and above) explore the world of dance, music and visual arts in workshops full of creativity and joy.

Winter Wonder Workshop
For all children aged 4 to 10 who love to move, dance and briefly immerse themselves in the world of Cinderella, Dutch National Opera & Ballet presents the festive Winter Wonder Workshops. A cheerful and imaginative experience filled with dance, music and fun, created especially for young dance enthusiasts.

Opera Heroes
For all children aged 6 to 13 who love singing, acting, dancing and performing, Dutch National Opera & Ballet will organise an Opera Heroes programme from 18 April to 9 May 2026

Children’s Chorus Festival 2026
On Sunday 24 May 2026, Dutch National Opera will host the annual Children's Chorus Festival at Dutch National Opera & Ballet. Children's choruses from across the country are invited to register for this special day. The festival will also feature various workshops, including acting and movement.
